Who are we?

We are a small team based in Portugal, building the app we kept wishing existed. It started in 2024, when our founder was planning a trip to Singapore and Thailand and could not answer one simple question: which of my friends have already been here?

The answer existed. It was scattered across old conversations, social media posts nobody wants to scroll back through, and a phone contact list where every name had a city typed after it. So we built somewhere to keep it.

Our goal

Our goal is simple: to help people make the most of every trip, get recommendations from their friends, and never miss a chance to meet up with them along the way.

We believe the best travel advice comes from someone you know (or someone who actually lives there). It just never made it onto a generic travel blog. And we think that the reason why friends who live far apart drift is rarely that they stopped caring. It’s because nobody knew the other one was “just forty minutes away last March”.

Our community

We’re for people who love to travel and know that the best recommendations come from people who know them well. For friendships scattered across the map: people studying or working abroad, digital nomads, frequent travellers, and anyone whose closest friends now live in different countries.

This is the place where whole friend groups come together, where paths cross and people find each other again, even years later, in another corner of the world. Your map is worth exactly as much as the people on it, so it’s built for the people in your life, not an audience.

How we treat your location

Pin My Map does not track you. There is no GPS in the app, nothing runs in the background, and every pin on your map is there because you typed it in.

You decide which friends see which parts of your map. A map of the people you love should not also be a surveillance tool.
